On our website is a ticker which continues to show how many days we have been working without a contract. Through the Triborough Amendment, our Collective Bargaining Agreement with the County remains intact while we negotiate. Despite the Triborough Amendment, we are all too aware that it does not prevent the cost of living from increasing, reduce the cost of back to school sneakers or, lower the cost of gas. A painful reality for all of us on a daily basis.
We know morale is low, plain and simple. We come into work every day because someone has to get the job done. We heard loud and clear at the last general membership meeting when members said they want to do something.
There is something we can all do right now.
The Long Island Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO has asked us to participate in the Clare Rose Rally, this Friday from 3 -5 PM at 100 Rose Executive Blvd in East Yaphank. If you are frustrated with what is going on at the county, stand with us as we join Teamsters out on strike for 3 months. Their fight is our fight. When we all stand together, we are a force to be reckoned with and our willingness to join hands with others dealing with negotiations will be noticed by those that stand with us and those that do not.
