One of our AME caseworkers was recently assaulted while doing his job protecting our county's most vulnerable citizens, our children. Our caseworkers work in homes and environments that are often dangerous and they do so without partners or weapons. Despite being attacked and suffering a broken nose and shattered teeth, our member kept his composure and showed a level of professionalism that should make all AME members proud. An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us and since the incident I am proud to say that many AME members have reached out and had his back. Today, I am asking for our membership to once again stand with him. On Monday, December 11th, his assailant will appear before a Judge at the Riverhead Criminal Court at 10:00 am for a hearing on his jail sentence. I am asking AME members to make every effort to be at the court and to support our member. I hope to see you on Monday at 10 AM Wearing Red.
